Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre, New Denver, BC. During the Second World War, hundreds of Canadians of Japanese descent living near the British Columbia coast were uprooted and moved to these quarters. The Nikkei Internment Memorial Centre reflects the story of the 21,000 people of Japanese descent who were placed in camps throughout the remote interior of the province. (August 2001)
