DIY Pannier from Briefcase

Briefcase pannier: start with your favourite old soft briefcase. This is my old Mountain Equipment Co-op briefcase, which I believe they now sell as the "Carry All Shoulder Bag". It has a main compartment that expands to hold about 21 litres. After many years of faithful service, the bag was beginning to show some wear, but it was still too good to just throw out. Carrying books on my bikes has always been a problem, so I decided to see what I could do to turn it into a pannier.
