Tour de Somewhere Out West!

Day 9, Monday

Crawford Bay to Mirror Lake
(38 km / 24 mi)

Use this short day to visit the glass blower, forge, weaver, broom maker and other artisan studios in Crawford Bay before catching the ferry. At Balfour, we turn north toward Ainsworth Hot Springs and Mirror Lake.

Ainsworth Hot Springs features a horseshoe-shaped cave that was once a mine shaft, abandoned when drillers discovered more hot water than ore. Higher in mineral content than any hot spring in Canada, Ainsworth provides a soothing soak in waters reaching 45 degrees Celsius. We deliberately kept this day's ride short so that you can linger in the hot springs all evening.

Mirror Lake, now a quiet resort town, was once an important shipbuilding site during the mining boom.
