On this, our last day of cycling, we ride into Writing-On-Stone Provincial Park, one of Alberta's most significant archaeological sites. Sandstone Hoo-Doo formations tower over the Milk River valley, while river bottom terrain is home to an abundance of plants and animals. The site contains one of North America's most extensive examples of pictographs and petroglyphs (rock drawings), carved centuries ago by native peoples. We'll also see the remains of a North West Mounted Police outpost established to control the notorious whiskey trade of the 1800s.
